Hooker’s Carson Maloney – Character Counts Presented by First National Bank of Hooker
- Updated: April 3, 2020
Senior Carson Maloney and the Hooker basketball team advanced to the State Tournament for this third-straight season. A lot of the team’s success is due to Maloney, who provides a spark off the bench as the Bulldogs’ sixth man. Throughout Maloney’s four-year career, the Hooker basketball team has dominated with a record of 98-12. This season, the Bulldogs finished with an impressive 25-2 record, which came with win streaks of seven, 10, and eight before the season was canceled.
Maloney’s biggest inspiration in basketball is his older brother, Garrett, who was a senior when Maloney was a sophomore.
“Whenever my brother was a freshman, he got in an ATV accident and lost feeling in his foot,” Maloney said. “He was injury-prone throughout his whole high school career, and his senior year he finally got to play. That year was our state semifinals team. He put in a bunch of hard work, and it’s rubbed off on me in basketball too.”
Maloney also plays on the Bulldogs’ baseball team, where he’s started all four years as a second baseman. When he isn’t competing in sports, Maloney raises and shows goats in FFA.
“My dad and mom both showed in high school,” Maloney said. “I started showing at 12, and it became a huge part of my life.”
Upon graduation in the Spring, Maloney plans to either attend Redlands in El Reno and livestock judge or attend NOC in Stillwater before transferring to Oklahoma State University. While in college, Maloney plans to major in Ag Business.
