Hooker’s Tomi Hise – Character Counts Presented By First National Bank Hooker
- Updated: April 2, 2020

Character Counts recipient and Hooker High School senior, Tomi Hise, plays guard for the girls basketball team. “Being nominated for the Character Counts Award is a huge blessing,” said Tomi. Starting basketball when she was in the first grade, Tomi has been around the sport most of her life. “My favorite part about basketball are the life lessons that I’ve learned from it and the friendships that I’ve made over the years,” Tomi said.
For this senior her drive comes from her love for the competition. “The competitive energy keeps me motivated and playing, the feeling of winning a close game and knowing that your hard work paid off,” said Tomi.
Not only does her competitive streak come in handy in basketball but also in track and softball. Tomi is also part of her school’s STUCO, yearbook, and FCA. Tomi attends church and is part of the First Baptist Church Youth Group as well.
As for her last year in high school, she is looking forward to making memories with her class. “We are a very close class and I hope we can continue to be close after we graduate,” said Tomi.
As a senior and Character Counts recipient, Tomi is aware that people are looking up to her so keeping good character to Tomi means being, “a good person all around, a person that is honest, trustworthy, and someone that does the right thing when nobody’s watching.”
