Ringwood’s Mariah Resendiz – Athlete Spotlight Presented By Security National Bank

As basketball season wraps up, Maria Resendiz continues to lead the Ringwood basketball team at the point guard position. Resendiz is also a menace on the defensive side of the ball as she leads Ringwood in steals. The senior has been starting for the Lady Red Devils since her sophomore season.
Resendiz also competes on the track team, where she’s qualified for several events throughout her career. She was a part of the 800m run, the 4x400m relay team, and the 4x800m relay team.

Outside of sports, Resendiz is also a part of National Honors Society, Beta Club, and FCA. She also has a passion for criminal justice, where she got from her family.

“I have family involved in [criminal justice] and grew up watching Live PD and things like that,” Resendiz said. “I’m looking into pursuing the degree at UCO or Northwestern Oklahoma State University.”

Resendiz’s twin brother, Jose, and younger sister, Anna, also play basketball at Ringwood. Resendiz has a large family with 11 siblings, all of whom look out for each other.

“We always look out for each other,” Resendiz said. “And we always say if they bring you down, then you have to know how to stand up on your own and keep going.”
