Oklahoma Bible Academy’s Devan Hawk – Basketball Spotlight Presented by Stevens Ford

The Stevens Ford female basketball player of the month is senior Devan Hawk from OBA.  She is a four year starter for the Lady Trojans and Coach Randy Roth.

Hawk began playing basketball in the first grade when her mom introduced her to the game.  She has never stopped playing.  She thinks it is fun to be part of a team.  Her younger sister, Allie, is a sophomore on the team and she has two twin sisters in the fourth grade.

The left-handed Hawk has had to overcome some adversity with foot surgery in August, 2018.  She got talked into playing softball this season and hurt her left shoulder and is nursing it as the season begins.  She was named All-Conference in both her sophomore and junior seasons.

She has attended OBA since the seventh grade and is a good student.  She is Student Body Chaplain.  Hawk went on a mission trip to Guatemala last June and did Vacation Bible School at different villages.  It was an experience that changed her life and made her realize how fortunate we are in America.

Coach Roth calls Hawk a complete player that plays on both ends of the floor and is quick to help teammates.  She likes to compete and is a good leader for a young team.  Hawk is a good defender and hopes her shoulder heals so she can shoot the three like she did the last two years.

Hawk would like to play basketball at the next level but wants to follow Christ.  One of her goals this season is to “show Christ to every other team” that OBA plays.
