Alva’s Aspen Warren – Character Counts Presented by Holder Drug

Alva shooting guard Aspen Warren is a dual-sport athlete, but said she fell in love with the game of basketball when she was in the first grade.

“I’ve been playing ever since,” she said. “I enjoy the challenge and hardship that comes with the game. I’ve also made friendships over the years with my former teammates, and I think that’s when I came to the conclusion that basketball is an amazing sport that I will miss when it’s over.”

Warren said for her senior season, she’s focused on hard work and helping her teammates as much as she can.

“Personally, my main goals are to play my role to the best of my ability, and work hard to be a better player than I was last season,” Warren said. “As a team, our main goal is to make state, and I believe with enough hard work and our ability, we can achieve that goal.”

Adding to that, Warren said she enjoys being a leader for the younger players who also wear a Goldbug uniform.

“I approach that by keeping a good attitude, and picking my teammates up when they’re not having the best day,” she said. “I want to try to be better than I was yesterday, learn from my mistakes, and not dwell on the past. I had some good role models when I was younger, Whitney Randell and Jaden Hobbs. Whitney was a senior when I was a freshman, and she always had a great attitude during practice and games.”

Warren’s plans for after graduation include attending Pratt Community College on a softball scholarship, and majoring in Wellness and Sports Science.
