Waynoka’s Shelby Seiger – Character Counts Presented by INTEGRIS Bass Baptist Health Center
- Updated: December 31, 2019
Waynoka High School varsity basketball player Shelby Seiger is known for being a remarkable student-athlete. Seiger will tell you it’s because of the people in her life that helped shape who she is as a player and a student.
“My biggest influences on and off the court would have to be my dad and my grandpa. They work hard at everything they do. They push me to be the best player I can be and they go out of their way to come to each and every one of my games. My dad and my grandpa have helped shaped me into who I am today,” said Seiger.
A basketball player since the third grade, Seiger has developed into an outstanding player and she loves helping her team win.
“It has always been my favorite sport to play and to watch,” said Seiger. “I play forward and the thing I enjoy most about my position is creating shots not only for me, but for the team too. My teammates are my best friends on and off the court. I couldn’t ask for a better group of girls or coaches. We are all one big family.”
Other activities that keep Seiger busy include FCCLA and working with younger student in the school system.
“I am in involved in FCCLA where we work hard to make our community better each day. Our team also mentors Pre-K through 4th grade every other Friday to interact with the kids and help them with academics,” said Seiger. “Academics are extremely important to me. I plan on attending Northwestern Oklahoma State University to major in Early Childhood Education.”
This season Waynoka is looking forward to competing and seeing what they can do as the season pushes through the winter.
“I’m hoping to surprise some people. I think that both boys and girls teams will do extremely well this season,” said Seiger.
