Woodward’s McKayla Allison – Character Counts Presented by K&S Tire
- Updated: December 2, 2019
By Ember McElrath
Woodward High School’s McKayla Allison is just about as hardworking and determined as a student and athlete can get. Allison is only a junior but that doesn’t stop her from doing her best in school, sports, and her everyday life.
Starting cheer just one short year ago, as a sophomore, McKayla already has a deep love and growing excitement for the sport. She got into cheerleading how a lot of young girls get into the sport, through the avenue of tumbling.
McKayla cheers for football and basketball, which frees up her spring sports season of high school. This junior doesn’t just cheer on other sports though, she also participates in track.
“The excitement of trying new stunts and tricks,” McKayla says is the part of cheerleading that keeps her motivated.
“The bond you build with your team,” is McKayla’s favorite part of cheerleading. “Being a flyer in cheerleading, you must trust your teammates whole heartedly, which helps to create great relationships.”
In her free time she is like most teenage girls, spending time hanging out with her friends and family as much as possible. You will also catch this busy high school student attending church on the weekends. McKayla works hard to balance she school work and cheer training by being extremely focused while in the classroom.
“I try and get most of my work done in school,” McKayla said.
