Mooreland’s Thomas Goff – Oklahoma Army National Guard Spotlight

Mooreland High School student and current member of the Oklahoma Army National Guard, Thomas Goff carries the rank of Private Second Class as an enlisted soldier. The Mooreland student has yet to be assigned a unit in Oklahoma, however he has completed basic training and is looking forward to starting his job with the Oklahoma Army National Guard.

“My job in the Oklahoma Army National Guard is an 11B, which is an Infantryman,” said Goff. “I joined the Guard to help pay for college.”

Goff is not the first member of his family to service this nation. His father and his grandfather both served in the Armed Forces.

“My dad served as a 13B (Cannon Crewmember/Artillery), and my grandpa was in the U.S. Air Force,” said Goff.

With his family behind his efforts, Goff is looking forward to graduating from Mooreland High School and moving forward with his military career.

“I plan to make the military my career,” said Goff. “I have really enjoyed meeting new people.”

As a student-athlete at Mooreland High School, Goff plays football, runs cross country and is on the golf team. His athleticism has helped him through basic training and his ability to adapt to a team environment will help him be a crucial member of his new team in the Army.

Goff offers this advice to other students looking for a way to pay for college or for those who may be considering the Oklahoma Army National Guard.

“My advice would be do something you won’t regret,” said Goff.
