Fairview’s Kenzie Doane – Character Counts Presented by Eischen Chevrolet
- Updated: September 6, 2019
The starting centerfielder for the Fairview High School fastpitch softball team started her varsity career at first base, now she roams the outfield. Kenzie Doane started playing the sport when she was still in elementary school, like many of her teammates.
“Center field is like the captain of the outfield. I love the position and the responsibility that comes with playing there,” said Doane. “I have played softball for seven years. I started when I was in fourth grade, but didn’t play my sixth grade year.”
This season Doane and her teammates are working hard to make post season play. The young squad is eager to get into the heart of the season.
“We are a young and excited team. We will always try to play our best and I expect a great year,” said Doane. “We have fun as a team. It’s great to be on a team that encourages each other and enjoys the sport. My teammates and coaches want to see us succeed as a team, so we all work hard to try and accomplish that.”
Doane also plays varsity basketball in the winter and is a member of the FFA and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Academics have always been important to Doane.
“Academics are a big part of my life. I have constantly been pushed to do my very best in my schoolwork. After I graduate I want to be a physical therapist for athletes and help them get back to the sport they love.
