Seiling’s Brya Nyberg – Character Counts Presented by Gore’s Travel Plaza

Brya Nyberg is a junior at Seiling High School where she competes as a member of the varsity track team. Nyberg competes in the relay events as well as the 200, 400 and 800. This season Nyberg said her team is making excellent strides with their times and are excited to compete every time they hit the track.

“Our team this year is really young, so I love the dedication we have put in to get to where we want to be,” said Nyberg. “This season has gone pretty well for me personally this year and I am proud of my teammates for pushing themselves and getting better.”

Nyberg, like her teammates, is proud to compete for Seiling High School.

“It is always a pleasure to represent SHS at any competition. I love being a part of this team and have grown close with all the girls,” said Nyberg.

Her career in track started in elementary school. She knew track was a sport she wanted to continue to compete in throughout her high school career.

“I have been competing in track since fifth grade and have loved it ever since! I also play basketball and have cheered for three years,” Nyberg said.

In the classroom, Nyberg find a balance between academics and athletics. The challenges of being a student-athlete have taught her many lessons during her time at Seiling.

“Academics are very important to me. Being a student-athlete is sometimes a struggle and most of the time stressful as well, but it has taught me responsibility and independence,” Nyberg said. “I love being a student-athlete at SHS because we have the biggest support system. Whether it’s basketball, track, FFA; whatever anyone is doing there are always people there to support you.”

Nyberg is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, STUCO and the BETA Club. In her free time she enjoys spending time with friends and family.

“I think it is very important to spend quality time with the people I love most,” said Nyberg.

Upon graduating, Nyberg plans to attend college and pursue her degree.

“I plan to attend college after high school. Not sure where yet, just waiting to see where life takes me this next year!”
