The ability to be a great player is not something that is given to you, it is something that must be earned with work, effort, and time.

Kevin Noel agrees and says that is what has put him where he is today.

“It has taken a lot of hard work,” he said. “Early summer mornings in the gym, getting my shots up and getting stronger. Sacrificing sleep to get better was pretty hard but the improvements show. Hard work pays off.”

Noel is a junior at Pioneer-Pleasant Valley High School. He is a member of the Mustangs basketball team, where he plays point guard and shooting guard.

Kevin says that this season has been a great one so far, both on and off the court.

“So far, this season has definitely been one of the best,” Noel said. “Spending time and playing with my teammates, and also the competitiveness of the other teams, makes the season even better.”

There have been many influences throughout Kevin’s life, but one person has made a huge impact.

“My dad, Wesley, is my biggest role model,” he stated. “He has taught me how to carry myself on and off the court. He has shown me how to be a Christian athlete and also be the most competitive player there.”

Noel says that even when there are doubters, just do your best and prove them wrong.

“During the Skeltur Tournament, a lot of people were so quick to doubt us.  Telling us we would be quick to fall out of the tournament. Winning the championship made proving them wrong even sweeter. Not only that, but now we know that we do have the potential to contend with any team and that has definitely been the highlight of my career.”

Kevin says that his favorite teacher has taught him more than what is in the books.

“My favorite teacher is my Biology teacher, Paul Raupe,” he stated. “He has always told me to carry yourself with confidence anywhere you go no matter how high the odds are against the team and represent the logo across your chest as best as you can.”

With all the success this season, Noel knows that there was no way he could have done it on his own.

“Nothing that happened this season would have been possible without the constant support from the team, my family, and my girlfriend.”
